![]() ![]() conventional deadbolts is that you never have to carry a physical key. ![]() Otherwise everything seems fine and dandy. One huge advantage that you get with smart locks vs. Just to be clear, HA has no built-in way to set codes on locks, but there are a few add-on solutions. I also briefly installed the keymaster add-on which picked up my codes fine and I assume would set them without issue (I just realized I didn’t need the complexity of the add on right now and didn’t want to have to keep it up to date). I have not tried setting codes in HA itself but I have set them from the ZwaveJS2MQTT ui and it worked fine. ![]() The door sensor that comes with the August Connect module doesn’t work with the Z-Wave module and I don’t think it ever could because I’m pretty sure some of the hardware for the door sensor is in the August module itself. I just worked around all that by having an auto-relock automation in HA itself which solves all the problems. Also, the built-in auto-relock time maxes at 180sec, which might be too short. What doesn’t work is the locks built-in auto-relock and I’d expect that to be fixed if I ever get around to opening an issue about it. It also works fine if you operate it remotely from HA. The lock sensor works fine if it’s manually unlocked or locked (i.e. The August module transparently lets you set the auto-relock timeout to be as long as you want because it turns out that if you set up auto-relock in the August app then it's using a remote trigger from August instead of the built-in auto-relock. And the lock has auto-relock built in but the timeout maxes out at 180 seconds (to save battery I assume). The Wifi/BLE module (aka Connected by August) adds a door sensor for example - really just a magnetic reed switch with the sensor built into the network module. But you can also install different network modules (Wifi/BLE, Z-Wave, ZigBee, iM1 HomeKit) and the modules provide not just network connectivity but also additional features, some of which overlap with the built-in features of the lock. It's a little confusing because the lock can work without any network connectivity (you just use the onscreen menu to configure it). Yeah the door sensor is part of the August Connect package, not the lock itself. I'll have to find time to actually try and set it up to work with homeassistant again, but looking at the homeassistant discussion board and github issue for the plugins seems like its a common problem with this lock so I'll just wait for them to maybe make it more plug and play friendly. Replaced the battery and it's just working like a normal auto locking keypad lock right now. No mention of any of this in the included instruction manual/manual linked on the website, had to go look for it on google for a bigger manual showing all the error codes. Spent 2 days troubleshooting it until I figured out it was actually throwing a low battery alert signal with the beeps / lights. I tried to redo my homeassistant VM and reinstall the addon, but ran into problems with it detecting the lock and it just stopped working totally. I still set the lock codes manually right now with the keypad. Nope, I can't even get the lock working with homeassistant properly. ![]()
